News from NUCSER | SPARC-Sponsored International Conference on Immune Biology at NUCSER

Nitte University Centre for Science Education & Research, in collaboration with Stem Cell Laboratory, KSHEMA organized an International Conference on “Immune Biology and Precision Medicine: Deciphering Cross-Talks through Multi-Omics” on 19th-20th March 2025. This conference was a part of the joint research project between Nitte University and Radboud University, Nijmegen, Netherlands under the India-Netherlands Collaborative Program, supported by Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, under the SPARC scheme.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Shubhada Chiplunkar, former director of ACTREC, Mumbai, in the august presence of Prof. M.S. Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University who presided over the function. Dr. Vinod Kumar, Associate Professor & Group Leader, Radboud University Medical Centre, Nijmegen represented Radboud University and was also one of the speakers at the conference. Prof. Mihai Netea and Prof. Leo Joosten, both from the Radboud University participated in the conference virtually and presented their talks online.

The conference also had the privilege of hosting four other speakers namely Dr. Shubhada Chiplunkar, former director of ACTREC, Mumbai; Dr. K. Balamurugan, Alagappa University; Dr K. Thangaraj, CSIR- Bhatnagar Fellow, CCMB and Dr. Bipasha Bose, Yenepoya Research Centre, who presented highlights of their research in the field of multi-omics. The conference witnessed 180 participations comprising of postgraduates, research scholars and faculty from various colleges in & around Mangalore and also from Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Kerala. On this occasion, best oral and best poster awards were given to the participants. In addition, a quiz competition was held for the participants at the end of the lead talks and top three winners were awarded cash prizes along with certificates of recognition.

The valedictory event was graced by Prof. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice President (ISR & CRL), Nitte University and Dr. K. Thangaraj as the President and Chief guest respectively. The event was coordinated by Prof. (Dr) Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER and the Indian PI of the project and Dr. Mohana Kumar, Assoc. Professor, Stem Cell Lab, KSHEMA and Dr. Krishna Kumar, Assoc. Professor, NUCSER, the co-PIs of the project.
