News from ABSMIDS | Industry Academia, Skill Development hands-on workshop

The Department of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry, ABSMIDS conducted an Industry Academia, Skill Development hands-on workshop in collaboration with Kids-E Dental, titled "Making Pediatric Dentistry Easy" on 6th June 2025 at Vimshathi Bhavan to enhance the proficiency of the participants in Zirconia crowns, preformed space maintainers, Bioflex crowns and MTA apexification.

The resource persons were Consultant Pediatric Dentists Dr. Aum Joshi and Dr Amol Patil. Prof. (Dr) Manju R, HoD delivered the welcome address, followed by presidential address by Prof. (Dr) Mithra N Hegde, Principal. Dr. Amol Patil explained the basics of Pulpectomy and Apexification, sharing insights into the various recent advances including rotary endodontics and MTA putty. He provided a comprehensive guidance on these aspects using videos, facilitating better understanding among the participants. Dr. Aum Joshi conducted a session on pediatric esthetic crowns and space maintainers. Attendees gained practical insights into techniques with the help of video demonstration. The afternoon session included a hands-on workshop where participants were able to practice Bioflex crowns, zirconia crowns, Apexification with MTA putty and space maintainers, helping them cement the basics and concepts of recent advances in pediatric dentistry.

Dr. Sadhvi, I-yr PG rendered the prayer song & Dr. Nishi Joshi, II-yr PG compered the event. Dr. Prajna P Nayak proposed the vote of thanks. Faculty & Postgraduates of Pediatric & Preventive Dentistry and interns of ABSMIDS and neighbouring colleges participated in the workshop.
