News from ABSMIDS | National Voluntary Blood donation camp

The Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, in collaboration with the Youth Red Cross Unit, ABSMIDS and the Nitte Blood Bank, Justice KS Hegde Hospital organized a Blood Donation Camp on 27th October 2025, on the occasion of the National Voluntary Blood Donation Month. 

The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Chandrika Rao, Medical Officer i/c, Nitte Blood Bank. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Padmaraj Hegde, HoD, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, followed by an address by Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde, Principal, ABSMIDS, who emphasized the importance of voluntary blood donation. The event also featured Dr. Sai Swaroop, Faculty, Nottingham University Hospitals QMC, UK, as the external guest. 

The camp was held at the Integrated Clinic, III Floor, ABSMIDS. Undergraduates, interns, postgraduates and faculty members of ABSMIDS donated blood. Screening was conducted for over 130 enthusiastic participants, of whom 65 successfully donated blood. 

The camp was coordinated by Dr. Gopinath Thilak PS and Dr. Aishwarya MU from the Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, ABSMIDS.
