As part of the Industry Immersion Program under the Supply Chain Management specialisation, 30 MBA students of Justice K S Hegde Institute of Management (JKSHIM) accompanied by faculty member Prof. Karthik Kudroli, undertook an industrial visit to Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd, Madgaon, Goa from 12th to 16th January 2026. The visit was organised to provide in-depth exposure to the operational, technical and managerial dimensions of one of India’s most strategically significant railway networks.
The students gained valuable insights into railway operations, including railway signalling and communication systems, track maintenance and safety in challenging terrain, rolling stock management and locomotive operations, traffic control, scheduling, logistics planning and the role of multimodal logistics. The importance of automation, safety protocols and preventive maintenance in ensuring efficient and safe rail operations was also emphasised.
The industrial visit played a significant role in bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world railway operations, enabling students to understand how large-scale transportation and logistics systems are planned, coordinated and managed efficiently & safely.
