The 34th Annual Special Camp of the National Service Scheme (NSS) Units 1, 2 and 3 of Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Nitte was organized from 4th to 10th December 2025 at Shri Gurukula Aided Higher Primary School, Mala.
The camp was inaugurated by Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Ms. Sumana Ghate, Retired Manager, Karnataka Bank. Principal, Dr. Veena Kumari BK, presided over the program.
During the seven-day camp, students were engaged in both educational and practical learning activities aimed at personality development and leadership training. To instil a sense of social responsibility and service among students, activities such as cleaning the school environment, painting the walls and creating Warli art murals were organized. Special programs such as nature study and trekking were conducted to promote awareness about environmental conservation and nature. As part of the personality development sessions, distinguished resource persons from the state delivered lectures on various topics including traditional home remedies, snake safety & conservation, multiple dimensions of expression and challenges in rural entrepreneurship.
The valedictory function presided by Mr. Gajanan Marathe held on 10th December 2025.
National Service Scheme - 34th Annual Special Camp (Units 4 & 5)
The NSS Units 4 & 5 of Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Nitte conducted a seven-day special camp from 12th to 18th December 2025 at the Government Higher Primary School, Kalambadi Padau. The camp focused on community service, social responsibility and the overall development of student volunteers. Volunteers engaged in Shramadana by cleaning the school campus and made a lasting contribution by developing a vegetable garden, complete with wire fencing and a sprinkler system. Awareness programs on cleanliness, hygiene and environmental protection were conducted in the nearby Nakre Kallu area.
A mega Health Camp, organized in collaboration with AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences and Nitte Gajria Hospital, provided dental, general and eye check-ups for the villagers. Fire safety awareness was also promoted through a session conducted by the Karkala Fire Station. Cultural activities such as Gramina Kreeda Koota (traditional rural sports) and “Halliya Sogadu” with hands-on experiences in coconut leaf weaving and broom making helped students connect with rural traditions and sustainable practices.
The camp was an enriching experience that strengthened leadership, teamwork and social commitment while positively impacting the local community.
