Students of Apparel Design and Fabrication Technology (ADFT), NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte, visited various industries as a part of their industrial visit from 29th to 31st January 2026. The students had the opportunity to visit Charaka Heggodu Dyeing Unit, Heggodu Printing Unit, Heggodu Weaving Unit and Shahi Exports, Sagar.
The visit provided practical exposure to real-time industrial processes and helped students understand the workflow of textile and garment production beyond classroom learning. The students learned about different stages of fabric processing including dyeing, printing and weaving techniques practiced in the industry. They observed the use of natural dyes, traditional methods and modern machinery involved in fabric production. At Shahi Exports, students gained insights into large-scale garment manufacturing, quality control measures, finishing processes and workplace safety practices followed in export-oriented units. The interaction with industry professionals helped students understand production planning, teamwork and industry standards.
The visit was coordinated by Smt. Dhanalakshmi I Pai, HoD, ADFT and Sri. Karan Poojary, Sr. Lecturer, ADFT.
