News from NUINS | ICMR sponsored Workshop on Transfusion Medicine

Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences organised an ICMR-funded workshop on Transfusion Medicine in collaboration with Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital and the Nitte University Centre for Stem Cell Research & Regenerative Medicine on 30th January 2026 at the University Auditorium, Paneer Campus.

Dr. Suchitra BS, Organizing Secretary welcomed the gathering. Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr) Sandeep Rai, Dean, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy emphasised the importance of research funding and highlighted the role of interdisciplinary collaboration in strengthening healthcare delivery and advancing research initiatives.

A special talk was delivered by Dr. A. Stephen, Scientist-C, Division of HRD, DHR, New Delhi, on the topic “Research Capacity Strengthening under the DHR Program.” The session was informative and interactive, with the speaker addressing participants’ queries and providing valuable insights into research development and funding opportunities.

Prof. (Dr) Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS elaborated on the objectives of the workshop and its relevance in enhancing academic and research competencies among healthcare professionals.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Prof. (Dr) Neetha Kamath, HoD, Community Health Nursing. The workshop witnessed active participation from 130 students and 15 faculty members.
