An EDP on Community-Based Disaster Management (CBDM) was successfully organised by the Dept. of Community Health Nursing, NUINS on 24th March 2026 at Chintana Hall, K S Hospital.
Inaugurating the program, Mr Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Coordinator, Nitte University, encouraged NSS volunteers and youth to actively participate in community service and disaster management initiatives. Heemphasised the importance of community preparedness and the role of trained volunteers in disaster response highlighting that effective disaster management begins at the grassroots level and requires coordination among various stakeholders.
Organising Chairperson, Dr. Neetha Kamath, welcomed the gathering and outlined the objectives of the workshop. The resource persons, Dr. Varsha Shetty, Dr. Dasharath Angadi, Dr. Sarita Telma Fernandes and Dr. Shruti, delivered informative sessions on the dynamics of community-based disaster management, including preparedness, response and rehabilitation. Organising Secretary, Dr.Sarita Telma Fernandes delivered the vote of thanks. The program was compered by faculty, Dr Suchithra BS. A total of 65 members, including faculty, NSS volunteers and YRC members, participated in the program.
