News from NUINS | Extension activity on Cancer Awareness Program (aligned with SDG 3)

The Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, NUINS organised a “Cancer Awareness Program” in observance of Cancer Awareness Month, at Government First Grade College, Mudipu on 25th March 2026, to createawareness among students regarding various types of cancers and to emphasise the importance of early detection, prevention and timely screening for better health outcomes.

The event was presided over by Prof.( Dr) Sheshappa K, Principal, Govt. FGC, Mudipu who highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and maintaining a healthy lifestyle to reduce the burden of cancer. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Hyderali, Assoc.Professor & Coordinator of Youth Red Cross.

Resource Person, Mr. Veeresh Kademani from the Dept. of Medical Surgical Nursing provided valuable insights into cancer prevention and early identification of symptoms. Academic sessions were conducted by postgraduate nursing students Ms. Sobutila Jamir and Ms. Chirashree, who presented detailed information onvarious cancers in a simple and understandable manner. The sessions were interactive, encouraging active participation from the students, and concluded with a Quiz and discussion session that helped reinforce the knowledge gained and clarify doubts.
