News from NISH | SNAKES - The Most Misunderstood

The NSS Unit of Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing organized an awareness session titled “SNAKES - The Most Misunderstood” on 11th May 2026 at Chintana Hall, KS Hegde Charitable Hospital.

The session was delivered by Mr. Rithan Bopanna, Herpetology Expert, Senckenberg Society for Nature Research, Frankfurt, Germany.

The session aimed to create awareness about snakes by addressing common myths and misconceptions associated with them. Mr. Bopanna highlighted the ecological importance of snakes, their role in maintaining environmental balance and the need for conservation and coexistence. The interactive session helped participants gain scientific knowledge about snake behaviour, safety measures and the importance of protecting wildlife.
