News from NMAMIT | MASCOT Designing Competition to promote Udupi Tourism

With a view to to promote tourism and showcase the cultural heritage of the district, the Udupi District Administration held a Mascot Design Competition, Spirit of Udupi on 25th July 2026 at NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte, a designated nodal centre for the district-level event. The competition organized by the NSS Unit of NMAMIT in collaboration with the Rachana Club at the institute’s Amphitheatre, aimed to encourage innovative ideas that could contribute to the branding & promotion of Udupi as a prominent tourist destination. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 26 contestants, including students from NMAMIT, Nitte; Srinivas University, Mangaluru and students from Primary & Higher Primary Schools of Nitte. Participants creatively portrayed the essence of Udupi through mascot designs inspired by the district’s rich cultural heritage, traditions, tourism attractions and unique identity. The selected entries from the nodal centres will be forwarded for evaluation at the district level, where they will compete as part of the larger Udupi District Tourism Branding Campaign.
