The Sanskrit Department of Dr. NSAM Pre-University College, Nanthoor celebrated Sanskrit Day on 29th August 2026. The event featured Prof. Pavan Kiran Kere, a well-known Yakshagana artist and scholar, as the chief guest.
The program commenced with a welcome address and introductory remarks by Sri Ravishankar Hegde, Head, Sanskrit Department. In his address themed "Sanskrit is a Way of Life," Prof. Kere emphasized that Sanskrit is a globally recognized language that imparts core human values and a rich cultural heritage. He noted that even global organizations like NASA acknowledge its perfection and structure, making it highly compatible with modern computer systems. He urged students to take pride in learning and speaking Sanskrit, describing it not just as a language, but as a framework for ideal human living.
Dr. Naveen Shetty, Principal, Dr. NSAM PUC highlighted that India is a sacred land where Sanskrit forms the bedrock of ancient literature, including the Vedas and Puranas. He expressed happiness over the rising enrollment of students choosing Sanskrit in schools & colleges today.
During the event, 21 students who achieved a perfect 100% score in the Sanskrit language subject in the previous academic year were formally felicitated and honored.
