Orientation Day for the 42nd batch of First Year BDS students of A. B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences (ABSMIDS), Nitte (Deemed to be University) was held on 5 October 2026 at the Avishkar Auditorium, ABSMIDS. The programme marked the commencement of the academic journey of the new batch and introduced the students to the institution, the University, the academic programme, campus facilities, and the professional values expected of future dental professionals.
Prof. (Dr.) Mithra N Hegde, Principal, ABSMIDS, delivered the Welcome Address and warmly welcomed the students, highlighting the institution’s rich legacy and its commitment to excellence in dental education, healthcare, research, and community service. Prof. (Dr.) M S Ravi, Vice Principal, introduced the academic leadership and briefed the students on the course structure and academic expectations. Prof. Dr. M S Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University), was the Chief Guest, while Prof.Dr.Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte (Deemed to be University), was the Guest of Honour. In his address, the Vice Chancellor encouraged the students to pursue their education with dedication, discipline, curiosity, compassion, and professional integrity.
The 42nd Orientation Day provided an inspiring and informative beginning to the academic journey of the 2026–27 BDS batch, fostering a sense of belonging, responsibility, and enthusiasm among the new students as they embarked on their journey towards becoming competent, compassionate, and ethical dental professionals.
