Observation of 30th National fortnight on eye donation from 25th Aug. to 8th Sep. 2015 under national programme for control of blindness.
As a part of the efforts in promoting and creating increased awareness among the public about eye donation, the department had organised the following programmes-
1 Lecture on eye donation and corneal transplantation by Dr. Vijay Pai at Rotary Club Sunrise, Mangalore on 4th September 2015.
2 Lecture on eye donation and corneal transplantation by Dr. Vijay Pai at Rotary Club Bantwal on 6th September 2015.
3 Street play on the importance of eye donation in the premises of K.S.Hegde Charitable Hospital by the students of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, at the request of Department of Ophthalmology dated 10th September 2015.
4 Poster competition on eye donation by Medical and Nursing students held at K.S.Hegde Charitable Hospital by the Department of Ophthalmology dated 10th September 2015.
5 Campaign for eye donation by the House Surgeons of K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital from 25th August to 8th September 2015.
The street play created a huge impact on the general public regarding eye donation.
