News from NUINS | International Nurses Day Celebration

The International Nurses Day Celebration 2024 was organized by the Student Nurses Association (SNA) Student Council of NUINS with a universal theme centered around "Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care". The event held on 11th May 2024 at the KS Hegde Auditorium was an engaging & inspiring occasion honoring the contributions of nurses worldwide.

The program commenced with a thematic skit on Florence Nightingale, presented by first year BSc Nursing & GNM students. Following the skit, an invocation was performed by Sr. Arogyamma and her group. Ms. Sheryl Fernandes, SNA Advisor delivered the welcome address.

A special tribute was paid to Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing, recognizing her invaluable contribution to nursing followed by the traditional lighting of the lamp. Sr. Aileen Mathias, former Vice Principal of Athena College of Nursing, Mangalore, graced the event as the Chief Guest. She elaborated on how nurses contribute to the economy through their vital role in healthcare. A felicitation ceremony was held to honor Sr. Aileen Mathias, recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award for her outstanding achievements in nursing excellence. Dr. Sabitha Nayak, Vice Principal, NUINS delivered the presidential address.

The formal program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Kalsang Dorjee, Student representative of the Science Editorial & Library Club. After the formal proceedings, the celebration continued with on-spot games for both teachers and students, fostering camaraderie and teamwork among participants. Ms. Afreen Wasim, SNA Vice President, NUINS compered the program. A total of 600 students & 20 faculty members attended the program.
