The Department of Biochemistry organized a Workshop, "Quality Management Systems and Internal Audit in Medical Laboratories as per ISO 15189: 2012 for NABL accreditation of laboratories" from 04-02-2016 to 07-02-2016 at K. S. Hegde Medical Academy.
A workshop on Quality Management Systems and Internal Audit in Medical Laboratories as per ISO 15189: 2012 for NABL accreditation of laboratories was organised by the department of Biochemistry from 4th to 7th February 2016 at K.S.Hegde Medical Academy. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. A. M Mirajkar, Vice Dean, K.S.Hegde Medical Academy on 4th February 2016. Around delegates 40 from different fields of sciences like Medical and Dental, Biotechnology and science faculty from all over Karnataka and Kerala had registered for the workshop.
The workshop was conducted by ISO 15189 :2012. This is a standard that provides the specific requirements for quality and competence that are particular to medical laboratories.
Dr. Neeraj Jain, the lab Director of Global Diagnostics laboratory, New Delhi and Managing Director of Jain Diagnostic, New Delhi and Dr. Sumeet Singhal with a doctorate in Clinical Biochemistry were the resource persons for the workshop.
Internal auditing is fundamental to any quality improvement initiative. A fundamental element of all Quality Management System standards is the measurement of system & process performance using a process based approach. The method for determining this is to conduct internal audits. The standard requires that the trained auditors carry out these audits .This four day course focuses on auditing for real quality improvement as well as compliance. The course provides detailed training in developing the skills necessary to be an effective internal auditor using many exercises.
This programme is empanelled & approved by QCI (Quality Council of India) which is a body jointly formed by Govt of India & three premier industry associations CII, FICCI & ASSOCHAM to establish & operate national accreditation structure & promote Quality.
