Nitte University welcomes Delegation from NE States

Nitte University accorded a grand welcome to the 34-member student delegation from three North Eastern States including Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. The team is on a weeklong visit to Nitte University as a part of the Solidarity Students Exchange Program, an initiative of Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), a registered NGO from Mumbai founded by the present Governor of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, His Excellency, Shri P.B. Acharya. INFC has been working in the NE region for many years. The formal orientation ceremony for the visiting team was held on 4th September 2017 in the University Enclave, Derlakatte in presence of the Honorable Chancellor of Nitte University Shri N VinayaHegde, ProChancellor Dr. ShantharamShetty, Vice Chancellor Dr. RamanandaShetty and Registrar Dr. M. S. Moodithaya. Speaking on the occasion, Shri N. V. Hegde emphasized on the need for such initiatives to bring about an emotional integration with the NE states of India. He also stressed on the point that the misconception that prevails in the minds of the people from NorthEast India about being neglected and alienated must be removed and such programs need to be organized by Educational Institutions across the country to bring about the close connectivity with them. The Vice Chancellor of Nitte University spoke about the role of the NE India in the development of the country, highlighting their immense contribution in the field of sports, music and culture. Nitte University has planned a comprehensive program for the delegation. The coordinator of the NAMASTE Centre at Nitte University, Dr. AnirbanChakraborty, briefed the team about the various activities.
