Inauguration of Students’ council and Freshers’ day celebration - UDGHAM 2K19 of Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences was held on 31st August, 2019. It has been customary of the senior students of NGSMIPS to welcome and induct the ‘Freshers’ into the NGSMIPS family and make them feel at home. The new students who come from different regions and background might have anxiety moving out of their comfort zone and stepping into a new world. To make this transition fluent, the seniors welcome the new faces and make new friends. The ambiance in the campus is abuzz with fresh excitement and energy. The Student Council for the new academic year is inaugurated on this day. The outgoing council members hand over the baton to the new team wishing them a year full of active academic immersion as well as innovative extra-curricular events and programmes.
The day began with a prayer invoking blessings from the Almighty. Vice Principal Dr. Narayana Charyulu delivered the welcome address and introduced the Chief Guest, Dr. A. M. Khan, Registrar, Mangalore University. Inaugurating the Students’ Council 2019-20, Dr. Khan advised the students to develop a progressive attitude and a personality that is a blend of empathy, intelligence, ownership and unity. Dr. C.S.Shastry, Principal, in his presidential address told the students that besides being excellent in academics, they must also get involved in community services and that the college would provide all assistance and guidance.
The outgoing student Council President Mr. Vinay Prabhu shared his exciting experience and along with the council members handed over charge to the newly elected President Mr. Nandakumar and his new team. A novel initiative “SAVE PLANTS & SAVE EARTH” was taken by the new Student Council by handing over a sapling as a token of respect to the chief guest who watered the sapling which was then planted in the college by the Council members.
This was followed by a variety entertainment program jointly put up the seniors and the new students. Mr. Pranam Prabhu & Ms. Divya were adjudged Mr & Ms Freshers’ - 2019. Mr. Karthik Bhat, Gen Secretary, Students Council proposed the vote of thanks. Dr. Sneh Priya, Asst. Prof, Dept. of Pharmaceutics and Cultural Co-ordinator managed the proceedings.
