Shri Vishal Hegde, Pro-Chancellor (Administration) Nitte DU inaugurated the Orofacial Pain Clinic on Tuesday, 11th June 2019 at 9.00 AM in the Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology, AB Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences.
This was followed by a CDE Program on Diagnosis and Management of Orofacial pain. Dr Kumuda Rao rendered the Invocation prayer. Prof. Dr. Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean delivered the welcome address and stated that the Orofacial Pain Clinic is the first of its kind in the country where specialists from various branches of dentistry and few medical specialists like Neurologists, Neuro-Surgeons, Psychiatrists, General Surgeons, ENT Surgeons, Physiotherapists etc will be co-opted for inclusion in the panel of specialists which will deal with all kinds of “Pain in the Orofacial region”.
Prof Dr Rajkumar Alle, President, Karnataka State Dental Council was the Guest of honour. He congratulated the Dean & staff members and hoped the college would reach greater heights. The inaugural address was delivered by Shri Vishal Hegde, Pro-Chancellor (Administration) of Nitte DU. He appreciated the starting of the Orofacial Pain Clinic and stated that more good work needs to be done to enable the dental college reach the top position. The college is presently ranked 2nd best among the private dental colleges in India.
Prof. (Dr.) Ravikiran Ongole, Head, Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore spoke on the importance of Clinical diagnosis and medical management of Orofacial pain. Dr Shruthi Hegde, Co-ordinator of Orofacial Pain Clinic gave a brief overview of the need for such clinics.
Prof. Dr. G Subhas Babu, Prof & Head, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology delivered the vote of thanks. Dr Supriya Bhat, Lecturer, Dept of Oral Medicine & Radiology was the MC and compered the program. Nearly 250 participants attended this highly informative program.
