After a brief discussion with Panchayat officials, 35 NSS volunteers divided into groups of five each, conducted a survey on health diseases of local residents. The Asha workers of the Panchayat helped the volunteers visit houses in the area to enquire about their health & related problems like malaria, dengue, anaemia, COVID-19 and communicable diseases.
The NSS volunteers educated the residents about adopting healthy habits and the precautions to be taken against diseases like dengue & malaria which usually seem to increase after the onset of the monsoons. After completing the survey, a working lunch was hosted by the Aldangady Panchayat. Post-lunch, the Panchayat officials addressed the residents and thanked & appreciated the NSS team for educating and motivating the residents to develop healthy habits.
The volunteers also shared their experiences and thanked the Panchayat officials for giving them the opportunity to meet the residents and conduct the health awareness program.
Dr. Santanu Saha, NSS Program Officer, NGSMIPS proposed the vote of thanks and expressed desire of the NSS unit to organise more programs of similar kind in the future.
