News from NISH | ‘Voice Care Boot Camp’

April 16th is commemorated as World Voice Day and the month of April is observed as the Voice Awareness month. On this occasion, Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing organized a ‘Voice Care Boot Camp’ in association with the Department of ENT and the Staff Development Centre for the faculty of Nitte DU. The boot camp was conducted on 26th April 2022 at the Chintana Hall. 33 teaching faculty from the constituent colleges of Nitte DU attended the program. Prof. (Dr) Vadish Bhat, Head, Dept. of ENT and Ms. Shwetha, Principal, Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing (NISH) addressed the gathering at the inaugural function. Prof. (Dr) Rajeshwary A, Dept. of ENT oriented the participants to basic anatomy & physiology of the larynx, and common disorders associated with it. The aspects of normal and abnormal voice, causes of voice disorders in teaching faculty, symptoms of voice problem and treatment options available were covered by Ms. Bennet Elsa Joseph, Asst. Professor, NISH. Ms. Akhila Rahul, Asst. Professor, NISH focused her session on the vocal hygiene program, vocal exercises and conducted a demonstration session for the participants. The talks were followed by a Q&A session.
