The Dept. of Psychiatry, K S Hegde Medical Academy, in association with the Directorate of Child Protection, DK Centre for Women & Child Welfare, Child Protection Unit and Women's Cell, KSHEMA, organised a workshop on Legal provisions for Women and the Child Adoption Act on 28th March 2023, at K.S.Hegde Medical Academy.
The program began with a prayer by Dr.Shruthi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Pathology followed by a welcome speech by Dr.Michelle Mathias, Professor of Pathalogy & Chairperson, Institutional Cell on Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace. The workshop was inaugurated by Dr.Sukanya Shetty, Prof. & HoD, Biochemistry & Chairperson Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace, KSHEMA.
The first session was conducted by Mrs. Priya Rajmohan, Administrative Officer SAKHI, where she highlighted the legal provisions for women in distress and the services provided by “SAKHI” Dakshina Kannada.
The next session was by Mr. Nikesh Shetty, Sr. Advocate, D.K and ex-CWC member . He spoke on Acts related to child protection and the revised Acts pertaining to adoption.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Kumar Shettigar, Protection Officer, Child Protection Unit. The program was compèred by Mrs. Agneita Aiman, Lecturer in Psychiatric Social Work, Dept. of Psychiatry, KSHEMA
