Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Institution Innovation Council Nitte DU, NU-MEDISIM and the Dept. of Anesthesiology & Critical Care, KSHEMA organised a training program in first aid & emergency care for rural volunteers from Bala & Kalavaru villages of Surathkal Gram Panchayat on 10th & 11th March 2023. This Apathbandhu program was sponsored by MRPL-ONGC, Mangalore.
Shri. M Srinivas Pranesh, Site Director, BASF was the chief guest for the program. Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor Nitte (Deemed to be University) presided over the program. Dr. G Srinikethan, Director (Technical Research) & President IIC Nitte DU & Prof (Dr) Gayathri Bhat, Dept. of Anesthesiology, KSHEMA were present during the program. Mrs. Sarita Telma Fernandes, Program Coordinator of NUINS delivered the welcome address and briefed the gathering about the program. Mr. Sukesh Shetty, Asst. Professor, NUINS, proposed the vote of thanks. The program was compered by Mrs. Suchithra B. S.
The volunteers were trained in emergency care like hand hygiene, vital signs, wound dressing, bandaging & restraining, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, management of poisonous bite, hemorrhage control, trauma care - cervical spine stabilization, shifting & transfer, management of foreign body aspiration, management of burns and convulsion. Training kits were distributed to the trainees. A total of 18 rural volunteers were trained and benefitted from the training program.
