Report on Awareness Program against Child Labour
An awareness program was organized on 12th June 2023, by the Sustainable Development Cell in association with the Dept. of Community Medicine, KSHEMA on the occasion of World Day Against Child Labour under the ambit of Sustainable Development Goal 16- Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions (SDG-16).
The program was held at Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, under the guidance of Dr. Rahul Hegde, Assoc. Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, KSHEMA and Dr. Aishwarya, SDG-16 Coordinator, NDU.
The program aimed to raise awareness about the prevalence of child labour and its detrimental impact on our society. Two banners were placed within the hospital premises to grab the attention of visitors and staff. The banners conveyed powerful messages, urging everyone to take a stand against child labour and report any incidents they come across. A group of student volunteers actively engaged with hospital visitors, sensitizing them about the issue of child labour, emphasizing the importance of recognizing child labour as a crime, and encouraging individuals to play an active role in combating it. The visitors were also informed about the appropriate channels for reporting such cases.
During the program, the team had an opportunity to interact with a few children and share information about the resources available to support them. These interactions served as a poignant reminder of the urgency to address the issue and protect the rights of vulnerable children.
