Nitte University celebrated the 78th Independence Day on 15th August 2024 at KS Hegde Auditorium, Deralakatte. The program began with a welcome address by Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte DU.
The Chief Guest, Dr. PL Dharma, Vice Chancellor, Mangalore University, hoisted the national flag and addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of patriotism. He highlighted the significance of culture & education in fostering patriotism among students and emphasized the importance of duties & responsibilities of both students and teachers, highlighting their obligations towards the nation. Following this, the Nitte Daan Fest was inaugurated.
Dr. Suma Ballal, Dy. Registrar, Nitte DU discussed the significance of the Daan Fest and its events. On this occasion, saplings were planted in an effort to carry forward the World Environment Day campaign "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" (One Tree in Mother's Name), which was started by the Honorable PM to encourage people to plant trees in memory of their mothers. The campaign aims to help combat global warming. Dr. MS Moodithaya, Vice Chancellor, Nitte DU presided over the program.
Dr. Fatima Dsilva, Principal, NUINS concluded the event with a vote of thanks. On this occasion, heads of Institutions, faculty members, and student representatives from various constituent colleges of Nitte DU were present. A cultural event was performed by the students.
