A special screening of the film Civil War was held at the University Auditorium on 12th August 2024, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Geneva Convention. The event, organized by NICO in association with the Youth Red Cross unit of Nitte University aimed to raise awareness among the new batch of undergraduate students about the significance of this pivotal international treaty.
The program began by screening a short video about the Geneva Convention, setting the stage for the main feature, the ‘Civil War’ written and directed by Alex Garland. To assess the event's impact, students were encouraged to provide feedback and analyze the film from their perspectives. This exercise was designed to deepen their understanding of the Geneva Convention and its relevance in today's world. The screening provided an educational experience and fostered engagement & discussion among the attendees, highlighting the ongoing importance of international humanitarian laws and the role of the Geneva Convention in upholding human rights during conflicts.
