The Sustainability Student Club launched by the Dept. of Civil Engineering, NMAMIT was inaugurated on 23rd October 2024. Chief guest, Dr. Omid Ansary, Former Sr. Associate Dean, Penn State Harrisburg delivered an inspiring keynote address on the global significance of sustainable development in education and industry. He emphasized the importance of equipping students with the skills to drive innovation and lead sustainability initiatives at both local and international levels.
Guest of Honour, Dr. Ramesh Mithanthaya, Vice Principal & Dean (Academics), underscored the pivotal role of academic institutions in nurturing future leaders capable of addressing environmental challenges through interdisciplinary research and collaboration. He advocated embedding sustainable practices in technology.
Dr. Niranjan Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT in his presidential remarks highlighted the institute's commitment to fostering a culture of sustainability and applauded the Dept. of Civil Engineering for launching this student-led initiative, which aligns seamlessly with the institution's vision of integrating environmental consciousness into its curriculum and activities.
Dr. Arun Kumar Bhat, HoD, Civil Engineering and Organizing Secretary of the event, welcomed the gathering. Dr. Pushparaj A Naik, Asst. Professor, Civil Engineering and Chief Mentor of the Club, introduced the Chief Guest. Ms. Deekshitha K, Asst. Professor, Civil Engineering outlined the club’s planned activities. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ullala Harshini Devi, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Biotechnology.
