Dr NSAM First Grade College, Nitte, organized the Annual Special Camp of NSS Units 1, 2 & 3 at the Govt. Higher Primary School, Inna from 16th to 22nd December 2024.
The camp was inaugurated by Sri. Udaykumar Shetty Muniyal, President, Muniyal Uday Krishnayya Shetty Charitable Trust in the presence of Sri. Lakshminarayana Muchintaya from Inna village, Shri Deepak Kotian, Gram Panchayat member and Smt. Ashwini S, Headmistress, Govt. Hr. Primary School, Inna.
The 110 volunteers participating in the camp cleaned the school premises, painted the school compound, and created murals to beautify the environment. The camp participants also contributed by setting up a vegetable garden and planting fruit saplings to support the mid-day meal program for the students.
The volunteers raised awareness about cleanliness, women empowerment, dangers of alcoholism, open defecation-free villages and the adverse effects of substance abuse through slogans and street plays They also cleaned these streets as part of their efforts.
The camp included six educational sessions on diverse topics, which the students attended with great enthusiasm. Cultural programs were conducted every evening, featuring songs, dances, skits and games. The villagers participated as audience, supporting and encouraging the students.
The camp concluded with a Valedictory function on 21st December 2024. The keynote address was delivered by Sri. Sudhakar Shetty, History Lecturer, Sri Niranjanaswamy Aided Pre-University College, Sunkadakatte. The session was presided over by Dr. Veena Kumari B K, Principal, Dr. NSAM FGC.
On 22nd December 2024, the students conducted a village survey to create awareness about various government schemes, marking the conclusion of the camp.
