The NITTE-GoK Centre of Excellence in Aquamarine Innovation (NITTE-GOK COE | AQUAMARIN) recently participated in the Emerge 2025, a 3-day startup festival from 31st January to 2nd February 2025, organized by Section Infin-8, a venture studio in catalyzing a grounded startup ecosystem at Tannirbhavi Beach, Mangalore. This startup fest brought together innovators, entrepreneurs, academia, industry experts and investors under a common roof providing a platform for the Nitte-GoK COE Aquamarine Innovation to showcase various innovative research products developed from aquamarine sources that have the potential to be transferred as technology. The products on display included peptides from marine fish, eco-friendly marine-based bioplastic & packaging film, seaweed-based nutritious & sustainable food options like noodle formulation and bioactive compounds with dye-degrading properties. In addition, NITTE-GOK COE | AQUAMARIN presented its research, state-of-the-art facilities, innovative initiatives and mandates of the government, thereby aiming to increase visibility and highlight the Centre's contributions to aquamarine research.
The team provided detailed explanations and insights into the research products displayed and potential areas for collaboration, generating interest among the visitors. Emerge 2025 also facilitated networking opportunities with stakeholders & potential collaborators. Besides startup networking, the event had panel discussions, live pitch sessions and keynote addresses by entrepreneurs and industry experts.
