The Department of Orthopaedics, KS Hegde Medical Academy under the aegis of the Indian Orthopaedic Association, Karnataka Orthopaedic Association and Canara Orthopaedic Society conducted a few events on the occasion of the Bone & Joint Week 2025 at Bhuvanendra Auditorium, Canara High School, Dongerkery for members of the Canara Bank Retired Employees Association.
Dr. Siddharth M Shetty, Professor, Orthopaedics delivered a talk on ‘Preventing falls among the elderly’ on 3rd August 2025. The program witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 elderly attendees, contributing to increased awareness of healthy ageing and injury prevention.
On 7th August 2025, Dr. B Jayaprakash Shetty, Professor Emeritus, Dept. of Orthopaedics, KSHEMA felicitated an elderly patient who had undergone orthopaedic treatment, recuperated well and resumed his normal daily activities, at Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, Mangalore.
An Elderly Care Clinic was organized at Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte on 7th August 2025 with the objective of evaluating, managing and providing expert consultation for the orthopedic problems faced by senior citizens.
The Department of Orthopaedics, KSHEMA under the leadership of Prof. (Dr) Vikram Shetty, organized a free health camp at Abhaya Ashraya, Assaigoli on 9th August 2025 benefiting over 80 elderly residents. The camp included osteoporosis screening by Dr. Alden D’Souza, awareness on prevention & treatment by Dr. Shreyas Shetty and Bone Mineral Density testing for all participants, along with free treatment for those in need.
