The Department of Community Medicine, in collaboration with Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, conducted an ASHA training program “Empower ASHAs: Safe Mothers, Healthy Babies” on 1st April 2026 at Chintana Hall, aimed at enhancing skills in maternal and newborn care. Ninety ASHAs from Amblamogaru, Pudu (Farangipete), Natekal, Manchi (Ira) and Mudipu PHCs participated.
The program was inaugurated by Dr H R Thimmaiah, DHO. The academic sessions included sessions on Maternal Care delivered by Dr Prasanna Kumar Shetty, Professor (OB&G), KSHEMA and Newborn Care delivered by Dr Drithiman Shetty, Dept. of Pediatrics, KSHEMA covering antenatal care, high-risk pregnancy identification, safe delivery preparedness, essential newborn care and early recognition of neonatal danger signs.
