The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Youth Red Cross (YRC) Units of NGSMIPS organized International Yoga Day on 20th June 2026 under the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
Prof. (Dr) Marina Koland, Principal, NGSMIPS welcomed the gathering and emphasized the importance of yoga in maintaining physical, mental and emotional well-being. Dr. C S Shastry, Director (Research & Strategic Initiatives), NGSMIPS encouraged the participants to adopt yoga as a part of their daily lifestyle.
The yoga session was conducted by Ms. Nayana G K, Yoga Instructor who demonstrated various yoga aasanas including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Pranayama and other yogic practices beneficial for overall health and healthy ageing. She explained the significance of each practice and guided the participants through the aasanas. Students and staff members actively participated in the session and experienced the benefits of yoga, relaxation and mindful breathing.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Santanu Saha & Dr. Ashwini M, NSS Program Officers, and Dr. Mahendra GS, YRC Program Officer.
