On World Environment Day 2026, Nitte Institute of Architecture (NIA), Mangaluru, successfully hosted “After Watt,” a design seminar and workshop focused on reimagining end-of-life solar panels as valuable resources for architecture and design. The event sensitised participants to the growing challenge of solar panel waste and encouraged innovative, circular-economy solutions to reduce e-waste.
Through expert discussions and a hands-on design competition, students explored creative applications for decommissioned solar panels. The event concluded with three winning teams receiving cash prizes and gift hampers. The event reinforced NIA’s commitment to sustainability, innovation and environmentally responsible architectural education.
