The NICO Film Society organised a two-day hands-on film workshop titled “Designing the Scene: A Hands-on Workshop in Direction and Visual Storytelling” on 2nd & 3rd September 2026 at the institute. The workshop was conducted by Mr. Balaji Mathiyalagan, Media Educator, Filmmaker and AI-Driven Content Producer.

The workshop focused on the practical aspects of film direction and visual storytelling, providing students with an opportunity to understand how creative ideas can be translated into effective visual narratives. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, students explored elements such as scene design, composition, visual planning, camera perspectives, and directing performances. Students were encouraged to think creatively and understand the relationship between storytelling and visual choices. The hands-on approach enabled participants to apply theoretical concepts to practical filmmaking situations.
