The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit of the Nitte Institute of Professional Education (NIPE), organized BEACH CLEANLINESS DRIVE | SHRAMADAN, a cleanliness drive on 20 September 2026 at Tannirbhavi Beach, Mangaluru.
The main aim of the drive was promoting cleanliness, environmental awareness, and social responsibility among students. A cleaner beach also provides a healthier and more pleasant environment for visitors while helping reduce the harmful impact of waste on marine life.
NSS Programme Officers Ms. Rashmi Hegde K and Mr. Riyaz coordinated the event under the guidance of Dr. Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor, Principal, Nitte Institute of Professional Education.

News from KSHEMA | Faculty Development Programme titled “AI-assisted Publication Boot Camp: Ethical AI for Scientific Manuscript Writing and Publication”
The Department of Community Medicine, KS Hegde Medical Academy, in association with NITTE Alumni, organized a hybrid Faculty Development Programme titled “AI-assisted Publication Boot Camp: Ethical AI for Scientific Manuscript Writing and Publication” on 21 September 2026. The 8-hour programme was attended by 115 participants, including faculty members, postgraduate and undergraduate students, and research scholars. The boot camp provided hands-on exposure to the application of Artificial Intelligence in scientific writing and publication, with emphasis on responsible and ethical use of AI tools. Dr Sharon Basil, MOSC Medical College, Kochi, and Dr Sughosh Kulkarni, SDM College of Medical Sciences & Hospital, Dharwad were the resource persons for the workshop.

Ms. Sakshi of III Semester, Dept. of Computer Science, NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte secured the Bronze Medal in the 4 × 400m Relay and 5th Place in the 3000m event at the Division Level Dasara Sports Meet, held at Hassan on 26th September 2026.
Adding another achievement to her credit, Ms. Sakshi secured 3rd Place in the 7 km Kudla Run, held at Mangalore on 27th September 2026.

News from NISH | Report on Blood Donation Camp
The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing organized a Blood Donation Camp on 21st September 2026, in collaboration with the Blood Bank, Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte.
The event aimed to raise awareness of the importance of voluntary blood donation and encourage students and staff to contribute to this noble cause. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as faculty members, actively participated in the camp.

News from NSAMFGCN | Beach Cleaning and Awareness Drive
On 26 September 2026, NSS, Rovers and Rangers, IQAC of Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Nitte, JCI Kapu, and JCI Udupi Shivalli organized a Beach Cleaning and Awareness Drive at Kapu Beach. A total of 58 students and 4 faculty members collected plastic waste and litter along the shoreline. They also learned about plastic pollution and responsible waste disposal. The drive improved the cleanliness of the area and built teamwork and social responsibility among the volunteers.

On 28th September 2026, the Library Department and IQAC of Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Nitte, organized a talk on "Library Resources and Their Usage" for 65 students. Resource person Dr. Preetham Shetty K.V. explained the importance of library and guided students on using its resources and facilities effectively. The Principal Dr. Veena Kumari B.K presided over the event.

The Department of Community Health Nursing of Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, in collaboration with the SDG Cell, Nitte (Deemed to be University), organised SDG Flag Day - 2026 on 25 September 2026.
The programme aimed to create awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and encourage students to take meaningful action towards a sustainable campus and society.
Dr. Suma Ballal, Deputy Registrar, Nitte (Deemed to be University), graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The programme included the SDG Flag Day ceremony, SDG pledge, awareness activities, and the launch of the “Plastics to Purpose” initiative, wherein students collected plastic bottles for their transformation into an eco-friendly bench.

The Nitte Institute of Speech & Hearing, in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecological Nursing, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, Nitte (DU), organized a workshop titled “Lactation Essentials: Knowledge & Skills” for M.Sc. (Speech Language Pathology) students on 19 September 2026 at Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing. The session was facilitated by Mrs. Sunanda B, Assistant Professor, and Mrs. Keerthimala K, Lecturer, from the Department of OBG-Nursing, with the aim of enhancing students’ knowledge and practical skills related to lactation and breastfeeding support. The workshop was organized by Dr. Deepthi K J, Professor under the guidance of Ms. Shwetha, Principal.

Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing in Collaboration with Department of ENT, K S Hegde Medical Academy conducted a Two-Day Screening Camp on 24–25 September 2026
A two-day diagnostic and screening camp aimed to identify hearing, speech, and communication disorders across various age demographics, provide primary counselling, and establish an expedited referral pipeline for rehabilitative and medical care. A total of 15 individuals underwent comprehensive preliminary screening and diagnostic over the two-day period.
News from NUCSER | Expert talk on Translational Cancer Research
NUCSER organised an expert talk by Dr Sudha M Sadasivan, Research Scientific Program Director, Division of Heme/Oncology, Henry Ford Health, Detroit, Michigan, USA, on 23rd September, 2026 at the institute. The postgraduate and doctoral students of NUCSER and KSHEMA attended the session. In her address, Dr Sudha shared the experiences of her team in developing alternative strategies for prostrate and lung cancer management that is being pursued at Henry Ford Health, USA. Post her lecture, she visited the KS Hegde Hospital and interacted with the clinicians from the Dept. of oncology and Dept. of pulmonary medicine to explore the possibilities of research collaborations.
