"Anyone who feels for his community can be a part of the NSS" said Mr U T Khader, Ex-Cabinet Minister for Urban Development & Housing after inaugurating the NSS special camp at Sri Ramakrishna High School, Pavoor, Harekala, Mangaluru. He said that the week-long camp will see cadets evolve and bring to the fore different aspects of their personality. Students are sure to miss it once the camp is done, he said. NSS trains one to endure the challenges that come one's way in life, he said.
Guest of the day Mr. Ronald Gomes, Lions District Governor urged the students to think scientifically and not be superstitious.
Principal Dr. Naveen Shetty K in his presidential address advised the students not to confine to academics alone but to involve themselves in NSS activities and social work so that they could get good exposure and thereby develop their personality.
Mr. Mudalemaar Prahalad Rai, President, Trishakthi Vidyavardhaka Society, Pavoor inaugurated the Special camp. Mr. Natesh Alva, Lecturer in Kannada, Ramakrishna College, Mangalore guided the NSS volunteers and gave them suitable directions with regards to service activities.
Mr. Jayaram Alva Podaar, Convener of Ramakrishna High School, Mr. Ravindra Shetty Ulidottu , Director of Vidyaratna Institute, Ln. Babitha Lokesh, President of Lions Club Ashoknagar Mangaluru, Mr. Hajabba Harekala, Social Worker, Mrs. Ushalatha, Headmistress, Ramakrishna High School, Mr. Ravindra Rai, Retired Head Master, the staff of Dr. NSAMPU College, Mangalore were present on the occasion.
NSS officer Mrs. Sandya welcomed the gathering; Dr. Mohana B was the Master of Ceremony; Ms. Dhanyashree and Ms. Meghana rendered the prayer song and Mr. Vidyadhar Thakur proposed the vote of thanks.
