The Nursing Education Unit (NEU), Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences, organized a National level Workshop on “Curriculum Development & Evaluation” from 22nd to 24th November 2023 at the NUINS Learning Centre, Paneer Campus, Mangalore.
Prof Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar, Nitte DU was the Chief Guest. Inaugurating the workshop, he expressed his appreciation on the choice of the theme for the workshop and also for inviting a very eminent pool of resource persons. Prof. Dr Fatima Dsilva, Principal NUINS presided over the function. Prof. Dr Jacintha Veigas, Organizing Secretary & NEU Coordinator welcomed the gathering.
The event began with a pre-test. 39 PG students and faculty members of Nursing, Homeopathy and Commerce discipline from Bangalore, Hassan and Mangalore attended the workshop. The key areas such as the framework, types & determinants of curriculum, outcome-based education, assessment of educational objectives, small and large group methods of teaching, workplace assessment, reflective practice, curriculum revision, equivalency of courses and transcripts were discussed with hands-on training. Mrs.Arathi Noronha, an Innovation Champion from Coombe Hospital, Dublin, Ireland provided insight into the Reflective Practice - Clinical perspective through online Zoom meet.
Prof. (Dr) Larissa Martha Sams, Chief Guest of the Valedictory function appreciated the efforts of the Organizing Committee. Prof Dr Agnes E J, Observer from Karnataka State Nursing Council provided valuable feedback and recommended 24 credit points. Mrs Cleeta Pinto, Organizing Committee member compered the program and Prof. Dr. Jacintha delivered the vote of thanks.
