Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services celebrated Housekeeping Week from 9th to 12th September 2024, honoring the dedication and tireless efforts of the housekeeping staff in the hospitality industry who consistently work behind the scene to create a lasting impression on guests.
The week kicked off with a ‘Towel folding’ workshop led by Mr. Joel Lobo, Asst. Professor, NIHS along with student volunteers Nihal Salian, Sohan Rebello, Brinisha Monteiro, Jeevitha Dsouza and Vinitha Lobo. The session provided a hands-on demonstration of towel folding art to the attendees.
The Executive Housekeeper of Taj Vivanta, Mangalore delivered an insightful talk titled "Maintaining Excellence: Housekeeping Standards in a Global Hospitality Brand" shedding light on the importance of maintaining high standards in housekeeping across international hospitality brands. Students explored the art of floral arrangement through practical sessions on basic flower arrangements and Ikebana. Engaging sessions on artificial flower-making provided students with a creative and hands-on learning experience.
Housekeeping Week 2024 was a celebration of skills, creativity and the invaluable role of housekeeping in the hospitality industry.
