News from NIPT | World Physiotherapy Day

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy (NIPT) celebrated World Physiotherapy Day on 8th September 2021 with a total of 3 events and a Karunya donation. The day began with a virtual discussion on the theme ‘Long COVID and Rehabilitation’ at 9:15 am. Dr Dhanesh Kumar K U, Principal, NIPT welcomed the gathering. Prof (Dr) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU in his opening remarks stressed the significance of physiotherapy and rehabilitation in COVID-19.

NIPT alumni Prof (Dr) Bipin Puneeth J, Principal, Florence College of Physiotherapy, Bangalore and Prof (Dr) Tarpan Shah, Principal, Shree Swaminarayan College of Physiotherapy delivered the keynote address emphasizing the modes of Physiotherapy Practice Guidelines and Protocols in COVID-19. A total of 60 students participated in the event.

A video and booklet on ‘Physiotherapy for post COVID-19’ was released by Prof (Dr) M S Moodithaya, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Nitte DU. An E-poster competition on ‘Long COVID and Rehabilitation’ was organised and judged by Dr Bipin Puneeth J and Dr Tarpan Shah. Ms Shellete D’Almeida, Assistant Professor NIPT, was the coordinator for the event.

The Karunya unit of NIPT donated grocery kits to daily wage earners and their families during the pandemic. Principal, Dr Dhanesh Kumar K U, Dr Purusotham Chippala and a representative from the Nivedita Balaga, were present at the event.
