NUCSER organised a two-day intercollegiate event NU-CHROME-2024, themed "Hues of Youth," as a part of the institute's decennial year celebrations on 22nd & 23rd March 2024. Over 350 students from 32 colleges in and around Mangaluru participated in this memorable cultural and culinary fest. The event kicked off at the university auditorium with an invocation and lamp lighting ceremony, symbolizing the vibrant and inclusive culture of NUCSER. Prof. Dr. Smitha Hegde, Dy. Director, NUCSER welcomed the participants. The formal function was graced by Mr. Swaraj Shetty, the actor known for his role in the movie Kantara and many other drama series. His inspiring words emphasized the importance of continuous effort for achieving success. On this occasion, NUCSER honoured him for his exceptional contribution to the field of art. A citation was presented by Dr. Praveen Rai, In -charge,Student Welfare Committee.
Prof. Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER presided over the event and applauded the efforts of the organizing committee and their dedication and commitment in the conduct of the events. Ms. Pereira Danica Assumption, President, Student Council, concluded the formal function with a vote of thanks.
NU-CHROME 2024 was a showcase of talent, with activities ranging from folk dance, poster making, painting, intellectual quizzes, debates, mock press, science model, dumb charades and pictionary, collage-making, rangoli, costume designing, mime and so on.
The valedictory function was held at K S Hegde Auditorium, where winners of various competitions were awarded. The Department of Biosciences, Mangalore University emerged as overall champions and Swastika Business School bagged the Runners-up trophy. The chief guest, Dr. Harsha Halahalli, Registrar Nitte (DU) and the President of the function, Shri Vishal Hegde, Pro-Chancellor (admn), Nitte University, awarded medals and certificates of appreciation to the winners. Their inspiring speeches highlighted the significance of teamwork and collaboration in achieving success. At the end of the two days of fun and frolic galore, participants left with cherished memories and newfound connections, embodying the spirit of unity and excellence that defined this unforgettable event.
