Nitte University's Centre for Tulu Studies | Kayyara Nenapu

Dr. Prasanna Rai, speaking at the Dr. K R Shetty Centre for Tulu Studies at Nitte DU on 8th June 2024, hailed Kayyara Kinhanna Rai as a shining example of discipline and dedication. Kayyara Kinhanna Rai effortlessly combined writing and work, crafting rhyming songs and stories without revising his words. His impact extended far beyond his family, inspiring the broader society.

Chief guest, Dr. Prasanna Rai, S/o Kayyara Kinhanna Rai, spoke about his father and sang a song composed by him at the Kayyara Nenapu program. In his presidential address, Prof. C S Shastry remembered his school days, the poems written by Kayyara Kinhanna Rai which were in the school text books.

Dr. Prerana Hegde, Jane, Sona, Suveeksha Bhandary, Adithi, Shweta and Vipul sang his poems. Samuel Dragmore from Boston, USA and Chirashree presented a dialogue regarding Kayyara’s writings.

Sri Bhuvana Prasad Hegde, son-in-law of Kayyara Kinhanna Rai was present on the occasion. Mrs. Jyothi Mahadev was the master of ceremony. Dr. Sayeegeetha, Program Coordinator welcomed the gathering.
