Nitte Institute of Communication joyfully celebrated Kannada Rajyotsava on 4th November 2025 promoting Kannada pride and culture. The event, "Namma Nadu, Namma Hemme," began traditionally with the lighting of the lamp. Mr. Snake Shyam, an environmental expert, was the chief guest, and Dr. Sayeegeetha Hegde, Coordinator, K R Shetty Centre for Tulu Studies, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
The celebration featured rich cultural programs, including Bharatanatyam, Kolata, Kodava Dance and a Yakshagana act. Students from Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose High School added vibrancy with a folk dance. Interactive, Kannada-themed games like 'Bone Battle' and 'Treasure Hunt' entertained the attendees.
The highlight was Mr. Snake Shyam's insightful address on snake conservation and his inspiring journey from an auto driver to a renowned conservationist. Dr. Sayeegeetha appreciated the efforts of NICO and Dr. Nesara Kadanakuppe, i/c Head, NICO emphasized connecting with Kannada roots. Mr. Damodhar, Librarian, NICO, sang a soulful Janapada song.
