International workshop - NUCSER - Press release


Guest lecture on the topic “Interpretation of NMR and Mass Spectroscopy” - NGSMIPS

A guest lecture on the topic “Interpretation of NMR and Mass Spectroscopy” organised by the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Nitte Gulabi Shetty Memorial Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Mangaluru was held on 27th November 2018. Dr Balakrishna Kalluraya was the guest speaker.

The lecture began at 1:45 pm with the keynote session. Keynote address was delivered by Prof. Dr K Ishwar Bhat, HoD of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. He introduced the guest speaker and briefed on the importance of the session.

The resource person, Dr Balakrishna Kalluraya explained the application of various spectroscopical methods. He introduced the gathering to numerous exclusive spectroscopical problems and challenges to elucidate the chemical structure by the given data.

The session turned more interesting when the spectroscopical graph was introduced, where the correlation of spectroscopical signals and the peak was analysed. This helped the students to improve practical knowledge in the world of spectra.

Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences awarded the Best NSS Unit - Nitte NSS

Nitte (Deemed to be University) organized NSS Day celebration on 15/11/2018 at the KSHEMA Auditorium. On this occasion, Nitte Usha Institute of Nursing Sciences was awarded the best NSS Unit. Mr. Sunil Kumar & Ms. Sonia Merin Sunny were awarded the best NSS Volunteers. The second-year NSS volunteers performed a mime on the theme “Save water”.

International Hands-on Workshop - NUCSER

NUCSER is pleased to invite you to inauguration of the International Hands-on Workshop on Essential Zebrafish Techniques- Development and Genetics on 29th November 2018 at University Auditorium, Paneer Campus.

The workshop is a part of DST-BELSPO collaborative project titled "Investigating the mechanisms of genetic disorders using the zebrafish model system (GEN-ZEMO)" awarded to Dr Anirban Chakraborty, NUCSER and Dr. Anne de Paepe, Centre for Medical Genetics, Ghent University, Belgium.

Zebrafish Model System is gaining tremendous popularity as a vertebrate model system in the field of Health Science and Biomedicine. The workshop is intended to introduce potential zebrafish users to essential molecular techniques for a wide range of applications such as toxicology, genetics, disease modeling, drug screening, and developmental biology.

FDP on ‘Technical English Teaching’ - NMAMIT

The Dept. of Humanities, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte provided a forum by organizing a Faculty Development Program on ‘Technical English Teaching’ on 22nd November 2018 in association with eWriteRight, Bengaluru. The Resource Person, Mr. Ashok Bagri, Founder, Trans Infopreneur inaugurated the FDP and shared his insights on updating the teaching of English in technical institutions. Dr. Niranjan N. Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Nitte, in his presidential address, lauded the effort by the Dept. of Humanities in assisting with some aspects, the formation of the English Syllabus. Prof. Ramakrishna B., In-charge HoD spoke on the importance of writing skills. Prof. Joy Martis proposed the vote of thanks. Prof. Vishwanatha compered the inaugural function. 27 participants from various engineering colleges discussed on how the newly introduced English Syllabus for VTU affiliated colleges could be made interesting.

NSS Annual Camp 2018 - NIPT

Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy organized the Annual NSS Camp from 19th November to 24thNovember 2018 at Govanithashraya, Beejaguli, Pajeer Village. The inaugural ceremony was held on 19-11-2018 at 9.30 a.m. Prof. Dr.Dhanesh Kumar K.U., Principal, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy welcomed the gathering. The Chief guest, Dr. Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Vice Chancellor, Nitte University addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of students’ interaction with the community. Dr. Anantha Krishna Bhat, Secretary, Govanithashraya, Beejaguli, elaborated on the selfless nature of the NSS volunteers and congratulated them for involving themselves in NSS activities. Dr.Sumalatha R Shetty, NSS Co-ordinator of Nitte (Deemed to be University) thanked all the volunteers for their active participation. The inaugural function concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Subhashchandra Rai, NSS Co-ordinator, Nitte Institute of Physiotherapy.

The Department of Science & Technology under Government of India has launched INSPIRE (Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research) for attracting young talented students.

We are proud to announce that the synopsis of 3 of our students -Shreevardhan Shenoy, Prem Udaya Rao and Prathvi G Shetty has been selected and they are the recipients of Rs. 10,000/- each.

MSME Conclave and Business Excellence Award 2018 - JKSHIM

Justice .K.S. Hegde Institute of Management in Association with Karnataka Bank Limited (KBL) had organised MSME Conclave and Business Excellence Award 2018 on November 03, at Hotel Occasion Pearls, Mangalore. 250 MSME Owners/Managers had attended this event.

















Women’s forum - ABSMIDS

A nationwide competition for students on legal rights of women was conducted by the Women’s forum of A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences as per the directive of the National Commission for Women, Government of India and the Dental Council of India on 15th November 2018 at A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, Deralakatte.

The competition was open to all undergraduates, interns and postgraduates of the institution of both genders. The competition comprised of 75 multiple choice questions based on various Acts relating to legal rights of women. 120 students participated in the competition.

Prof. (Dr). Amitha Ramesh, President of Women’s Forum welcomed the gathering and presented the details of the competition. Prof. (Dr.) U S Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean presided over the function. Prof. (Dr.) Darshana Devadiga, Secretary of the Women’s Forum delivered the vote of thanks.

Media Conference and Cartoon Exhibition concludes at Nitte Institute of Communication - NICO

The two-day conference on Media, Content and Consciousness: Exploring the Collective and the Individual held on November 16-17 at Nitte Institute of Communication ended with a panel discussion comprising of social scientist Shiv Visvanathan, former Outlook magazine editor-in-chief, Mr Krishna Prasad, National-Award winning film critic Prof N Manu Chakravarthy and social activist Prof K Phaniraj. The discussion was moderated by Gandhian scholar Prof Varadesh Hiregange.

A cartoon workshop by internationally acclaimed artist Satish Acharya was also conducted in the premises of the Institution, which also saw a public exhibition of over 100 of his best works. This exhibition, free to the public and on display for two days, was inaugurated on November 16 by Vice Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be) University, Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary.

The conference was inaugurated by Shiv Visvanathan, who also delivered the keynote address. He spoke about changes in the Indian media landscape, and analysed the usage of media by political parties. “ Digitalisation is changing our lives so rapidly to an extent that it has changed the novelty of India,” he said. Commenting on how most stories don’t appear on the media, he argued that “the creation of the Indian state and incidents like partition have damaged the orality in the country. We have developed contempt for orality and it has become a concept all about memory.”

The conference also saw talks by the distinguished speakers on several important issues pertaining to the media such as Text and Public Memory, Media and the Marginalised, Media and Development, and Mainstream and Alternative Media. Students and academicians from diverse disciplines and from various parts of the country attended the sessions and contributed to the perspectives of the discussion.

Free Dental Screening camp at Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte - ABSMIDS

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the International College of Dentists, conducted a free dental screening & health education camp at Dr. NSAM English Medium High School, Nitte on 13th November 2018. The team was headed by Dr.Sahana Maben, & Dr. Chethana Shashikanth.

Oral health education and dental checkup was done for 320 students.

Free Dental Treatment Camp at Sathya Sai Hospital, Alike - ABSMIDS

The Department of Public Health Dentistry, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in association with the International College of Dentists conducted a free dental treatment camp at Sathya Sai Hospital, Alike on 12th November 2018. The team was headed by Dr. Bless Annie Philip. A total of 19 patients were screened during the camp, out of which 2 patients underwent extraction, 10 patients - GIC restoration, Checkup - 5 patients and Formacresol dressing done for 3.

Karate Laurels - NSAMEMHS

Students of Dr. N. Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial English Medium High School participated in the 4th Karnataka State Open Karate Championship organised by the State Karate Teachers Association and excelled in various categories. Rakshitha T. Shetty & Chirag S bagged the first place and Neeraj N. Shetty bagged the second place in the individuals Kumite category.

We congratulate the budding Karate Champs for their commendable performance.




Dr. Nitte Shankara Adyanthaya Memorial English Medium High School, bags Runners Championship of “Science Quest” - NSAMEMHS

Our students participated in the “Science Quest -2018” conducted by Hindu PU College, Shirva. Nearly 30 schools took part in this competition. Sakshith Shetty of class X bagged the first place in Portrait Making and Harshith Kumar Shetty & Tejaswi secured the second place in the Science Quiz competition and bagged the Runners up Championship Trophy.
