News from NIAHS | One-day workshop titled "Extracorporeal Therapies - Empowering Renal Care Professionals"

The Department of Renal Dialysis Technology at Nitte Institute of Allied Health Sciences organized a one-day workshop titled "Extracorporeal Therapies - Empowering Renal Care Professionals" on 19th November 2025 at Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital. A total of 102 delegates, including renal care professionals & students from Karnataka & Kerala attended the program to enhance their skills in extracorporeal therapeutic modalities.

The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Indrani Karunasagar, Director (Projects & NuTEC). Prof (Dr) Jayaprakash Shetty K, Dean, NIAHS presided over the function. Prof. (Dr) Janardhan Kamath, HoD, Nephrology was the faculty coordinator.

News from NIAHS | Aati`D Onji Dina

Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services celebrated Aati`D Onji Dina on 26th July 2025 in the college auditorium. The event aimed to preserve and promote the rich cultural traditions of Tulunadu, especially during the monsoon month of Aati, through vibrant performances and traditional experiences.

Principal Dr. Dhiraj Pathak emphasized the importance of cultural celebrations in educational institutions. The chief guest of the day was Mr. Denis Dsilva, President, Sparsha Seva Trust, Mangalore and the Guest of honour was Dr. Sudhir Raj, IKC Coordinator, Nitte University.

The event began with a traditional procession, followed by a formal inauguration ceremony. This was followed by a colourful cultural program, a lively music show and concluded with a traditional lunch that showcased the flavours of the region. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff, all coming together to celebrate the essence of Tulunadu's heritage.

News from NIAHS | Fit India, Fit Me - 5K Run

A 5-km marathon was organized by the Nitte Institute of Allied Health Sciences, in collaboration with the NSS unit on 24th April 2025 as part of the Central Government’s Fit India initiative to promote physical fitness and well-being among participants.

Dakshina Kannada’s Deputy Commissioner, Mullai Muhilan M P, IAS inaugurated the event at the K S Hegde Auditorium. He emphasized the importance of physical fitness, particularly for those in the medical profession and encouraged everyone to make fitness a daily habit - not only for their own well-being but also to inspire others to adopt a healthier lifestyle. DC Muhilan participated in the marathon, running alongside students and staff from the university and completed the 5-km stretch. The DC reflected with humor on his past marathon days, acknowledging that the years had made the run more tiring, yet his determination saw him through to the finish.

Dr. Jayaprakash Shetty, Dean, Nitte Institute of Allied Health Sciences welcomed the gathering. The event was attended by Dr. Prathap Lingayya, State NSS Officer; Shri. D Karthikeyan, Regional Director, Government of India’s NSS Directorate and several dignitaries of the Nitte University.

The event was organized by Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty, NSS Program Coordinator with the support of NSS Programme Officers Ms. Prathima Rai, Ms. Anshya Rai and Dr. Varsha Shetty.
