News from MRPITI | Tobacco free Day

Tobacco-Free Day was organised at M R Punja Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Thokur under the initiative of the Shri Kshetra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP) and BC Trust (R), Bajpe with the objective of creating awareness among students about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.

The program was inaugurated by Sri Hari H, Principal, M R Punja ITI and presided over by Smt. Sukalatha Shetty, President, Jana Jagruthi Vedike, Mangaluru. The speakers highlighted the serious health hazards caused by tobacco use and urged students to stay away from tobacco products and become ambassadors of a tobacco-free society. Sri Yashawanth Kumar, Head Constable, Mulki; Sri Bhuvanabhirama Udupa; Sri Dhananjaya Shettigar; Sri Girish Kumar and Sri Lakshminarayana attended the program.

Staff & students participated enthusiastically in the program and pledged to promote a healthy & tobacco-free lifestyle.

News from MRPITI | Farewell function of Smt. Poornima Yashwath, FDA

A farewell function in honor of Smt. Poornima Yashawanth, FDA, M.R. Punja ITI, was organized on 1st June 2026 at the Institute Seminar Hall. Sri Yashwanth Salian, Retired Principal of M.R. Punja ITI was the Chief Guest.

The program commenced with an invocation rendered by Kum. Sanidhya Acharya. Sri Sharath Kumar, JTO, welcomed the gathering and the dignitaries. The sincere service rendered by Smt. Poornima Yashawanth during her tenure at the institute was appreciated by the speakers. The dignitaries conveyed their best wishes to her for a healthy, happy and fulfilling retired life. Smt. Poornima Yashawanth expressed her gratitude to the management, colleagues and trainees for their support throughout her service.

The program was compered by Smt. Shayana, JTO. The function concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Smt. Rajani Suvarna.

A Kabaddi tournament was held on 15th November 2025 for the students of MRP ITI. The event was inaugurated by the Principal, Sri Hari H. Both the boys’ & girls’ teams participated actively and displayed good sportsmanship. The program was anchored by Smt. Shayana.

News from MRPITI | Engineers’ Day

Engineers’ Day was celebrated on 16th September 2025 at MRPITI, in memory of Bharat Ratna Sir M Visvesvaraya, the great engineer and statesman of India.

Faculty members Sri Vishwanath Rao, Sri Raghavendra Adiga and Sri Harischandra Devadiga highlighted the significance of Engineers’ Day, paying tribute to the contributions of Sir M. Visvesvaraya. They encouraged students to draw inspiration from his ideals of dedication, innovation and selfless service.

Alumnus Shri Harish Devadiga, Service Supervisor, KNND Associates was felicitated on this occasion.

The program began with a welcome address by Sri Raghavendra Rao K. Smt. Rajani Suvarna proposed the vote of thanks and the event was anchored by Smt. Shayana.

News from MRPITI | M. R. Punja ITI Achieves Top Ranking in Karnataka (NCVE&T MIS CODE: PR29000151)

The Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India has implemented an All India Level Grading System for Industrial Training Institutes (ITI) over the past three years. This comprehensive evaluation assesses institutions on parameters such as infrastructure, quality of training, student performance, placement records and overall institutional development.

We are happy to share that M. R. Punja ITI has consistently secured excellent grades in this evaluation:

2023-24: 8.8 / 10
2024-25: 8.8 / 10
2025-26: 8.6 / 10

Despite the high standards of assessment, MRP ITI has maintained its place among the best, showcasing continuous commitment to quality skill development. It has received recognition at both the district and state levels, being graded as a top ITI in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts and is ranked among the Top 10 ITIs in Karnataka.

News from MRPITI | Teachers’ Day celebration

Teachers’ Day was celebrated on 6th September 2025 with great enthusiasm. The day began with fun games organized by students for teachers, creating a lively atmosphere in the college premises. A formal stage program followed in the afternoon, with Sri. Shiva Kumar, Principal & Nodal Officer, Govt. ITI (Women), Mangaluru as Chief Guest, and Sri. Hari H, Principal, MRPITI, presiding. Faculty members Sri. Vishwanath Rao and Sri. Wilfred John Mathias highlighted the importance of Teachers’ Day and students Miss Laxmi and Santhosh B. N emphasised the role of teachers in shaping students’ lives.

The event was well coordinated by Ms. Kushi, while Ms. Laxmi delivered the vote of thanks. The celebration beautifully reflected the respect and gratitude of students towards their teachers.

News from MRPITI | Farewell Function for Mr. Gururaj Bhat at M.R. Punja ITI

M.R. Punja ITI organized a heartfelt farewell function on 30th June 2025 to honor Mr. Gururaj Bhat for his dedicated service of 31 years. Principal Mr. Hari H welcomed the gathering and praised Mr. Bhat for his discipline, humility and exceptional hospitality. He highlighted Mr. Bhat's contribution to the success of numerous Fitter Trade students globally.

Mr. Raghavendra Adiga applauded Mr. Bhat’s hard work & patience, while Mr. Harishchandra A appreciated his amicable nature and kind interactions with colleagues and trainees.

Mr. Bhat attended the function with his wife, Mrs. Sujatha Gururaj Bhat, and son Mr. Pawan Kumar.

The program included a prayer by COPA students Deeksha, Tanushree and Prathiksha. Mr. Vishwanath Rao (staff) and Mr. Rahul (Fitter II year student) shared their thoughts on Mr. Bhat’s contributions. Mr. Shayana read the appreciation note and Mr. Teerthan anchored the event. Ms. Suresh S delivered the vote of thanks.
