Nitte School of Fashion Technology & Interior Design (NSFTID), Yelahanka, Bengaluru celebrated the International Women’s Day on 8th March 2020. The chief guest for the program was Mrs. Padmashree, Scientist, Engineer, Head of Computer System and Software Division, LEOS, ISRO, Bengaluru. Dr. Sandhya Ravi, Principal NSFTID, HoD’s, faculty and students were the participants in the program.
The program started by lighting the lamp. Mr. Ramesh K S, Head, Interior Designs welcomed the gathering. Mr. Pathaiah N, Asst. Professor, Kannada gave an insightful speech on the significance of celebrating Women’s Day and threw light on social, economic, cultural and political accomplishments of women, to encourage young students.
On this occasion, NSFTID initiated “The Woman of Substance” award. All the women staff (both teaching & non-teaching) enrolled for the award. The winner was elected by the students on standardized norms. Mrs. Prathima G, Asst. Professor, Fashion & Apparel Design was declared “The Woman of Substance 2020”.
Mrs. Padmashree shared her inspirational tales of success, motivated the students with her achievements and urged women to identify and exercise their rights. Dr. Sandhya Ravi spoke on the rights and empowerment of women, appreciated Mrs. Padmashree for her inspirational success and thanked her for accepting the invitation and gracing the occasion as chief guest. There were various week-long events of celebrations and deliberations organized by the students for women staff including a cultural show that emphasized the role of women in the society. Students also shared their views on woman empowerment and ongoing scenarios. The program concluded on 8th March 2020.
