"We have shown spectacular progress in all sectors. Development is for the people and is also due to the efforts of the people.Good decisions coupled with timely delivery makes everything real" he added.

Capt. Ganesh Karnik, former MLC was present on the occasion. Dr. Gururaj H Kidiyoor, Director of the Institute, welcomed the guests. The talk was followed by interactions with the students and faculty members on various aspects of growth and international current affairs.

Principals and faculty from the sister institutions also participated in the session.

News from ABSMIDS | White Coat Day celebration

The annual White Coat Day celebration and a guest lecture was organised on 20th January 2024 at Avishkar Auditorium, ABSMIDS. The program commenced with an invocation followed by lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest and resource person, Prof. (Dr). Naveen Salins and other dignitaries. Prof (Dr) U.S. Krishna Nayak, Principal & Dean delivered the welcome address emphasizing the significance of effective communication skills in clinical practice.

Prof (Dr) Naveen Salins, Associate Dean of Research, KMC, Manipal was formally introduced by the program coordinator, Dr. Sahana Maben. This was followed by a Guest Lecture on "Being Professional," specifically tailored for III BDS students and I MDS students. Dr. Upasana J Reddy, Lecturer, Dept. of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics explained the significance of the white coat. The event had nearly 150 participants.









News from ABSMIDS | Road Safety Awareness

On the occasion of the Road Safety Awareness Week from 11th to 17th January 2024, the Dept. of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery ABSMIDS jointly with the Association of Maxillofacial Surgeons of India, organised an awareness campaign on 16th January 2024 at Avishkaar, ABSMIDS.

Prof (Dr) Padmaraj Hegde, HoD, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery engaged the students in a presentation that covered crucial topics such as impact of road accidents on facial injuries, the role of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons in Trauma cases and preventable measures to reduce road accidents.

Dr. Gopinath Thilak, Reader, OMFS and Dr. Joythi Mishra, PG, OMFS organised an interactive session on road safety awareness. Dr. Gopinath said that road safety continues to be a public health concern and a leading cause of death and injury across the world. Dr. Jyothi explained the importance of wearing seat belt and helmet while driving.






The highlight of the event was the oath taking ceremony, where participants pledged to adhere to traffic rules, promote road safety awareness and encourage responsible driving habits among the community.

The program had over 350 participants which included UG & PG students and staff.


News from NMAMIT | AI Skill Lab Inauguration

In a ground-breaking initiative to cultivate AI expertise, Dell and Intel, in partnership with the Dept. of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, NMAM Institute of Technology, unveiled the AI Skill Lab and Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) for Intel AI Digital Readiness program on 17th January 2024. 

Mr. Vivekanand Manjeri, Director (Client-Solution group), Dell Technologies inaugurated the lab. Mr. Santhosh Banerjee, Sales Account Manager, Dell Technologies​ ​and Dr. Udaya Kumar Shenoy, Dean (R&D), Canara College of Engineering were the guests of honor. Dr. Niranjan N Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAM Institute of Technology, Nitte presided over the function.

Mr. Vivekanand Manjeri, in his inaugural address, encouraged the students to take up the challenges in industry and prepare for it. He mentioned that the courses offered by Intel will empower and enable students & researchers to achieve greater heights in their careers. Mr. Santhosh Banerjee wished the initiative every success. Dr. Udaya Kumar Shenoy motivated the students to work in workstations for AI-specific applications and utilize the power of GPUs. Dr. Chiplunkar extended support in implementing Intel’s AI for Future Workforce and AI for Youth and such initiatives by the companies.

Dr. Sharada U Shenoy, HoD, AI&ML welcomed the gathering and gave an insight into the initiative. Mrs. Disha D N (SPOC) delivered the vote of thanks. Mr. Sharoon S. Manipur - Sr. Sales Consultant, Orchids Network & Systems (I) Pvt Ltd and Mr. Ravi Konila - Sr. Technical Consultant were present on the occasion.

News from NUCSER | A Day as a Scientist - Visit of Class 10 students of Dr MRSM Memorial English Medium School

NUCSER hosted the program - “A Day as a Scientist” for 44 Class X students and 2 teachers of Dr. Mundkur Ramanna Shetty Memorial English Medium High School, Thokur, Mangaluru on 25th January 2024. Faculty and research scholars of NUCSER engaged the students in showcasing the ongoing biomedical research at the institution and introduced them to concepts of handling microorganisms, basics of bio & nanotechnology, applications of biomedical science in environmental health, food technology and handling non-mammalian animal models like zebrafish and drosophila.






News from NUCSER | NUCSER signs MoA with Syrimed Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd

NUCSER signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Syrimed Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd, a nutraceutical company located in Hosadurga, Karnataka on 27th January 2024. Dr. Dayananda C, Managing Director of Syrimed Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd and Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director, NUCSER signed the documents in the presence of the Vice-Chancellor of Nitte University, Dr. M S Moodithaya; Registrar, Dr. Harsha Halahalli and Dr. Mamatha B S, faculty, NUCSER.

Syrimed Life Sciences is primarily involved in production of designer foods, functional foods for select populations, particularly focusing on those that suffer from micronutrient deficiencies. The main objective of this collaboration is to take up joint research projects, support lab experiments for company-sponsored projects and offer industrial training and internship to food safety and biotechnology students. Dr. Mamatha B S, HoD, Food Safety & Nutrition has been placed in charge of the activities specified in the MoA.





News from NUCSER | "Exousia 2024" the annual sports meet

The Annual Sports Meet of NUCSER, Exousia 2024 was held at Nitte Grounds, KHSEMA Campus on 20th January 2024. The event commenced with a march past and inauguration ceremony at 3.00 pm. Dr. Divyashree M, Sports Coordinator, NUCSER, introduced the Chief guest Ms. Amreen to the gathering. Ms. Amreen who is a national level athlete currently working in the Department of Income Tax, Mangaluru, motivated the students by quoting Michael Jordans famous quote “To learn to succeed, you must first learn to fail”.

The Guest of Honour Dr. Murali Krishna B, Sports Adviser, Nitte DU urged the students to participate in sports activities. Prof. Dr. Anirban Chakraborty, Director NUCSER presided over the program and encouraged the students to utilize the sports facilities in the campus. He appreciated the achievements of the torch bearers of the athletic meet and the disciplined conduct of the march past by the students and staff members of NUCSER. Ms. Deona Justine Miranda, Student Sports In-charge, NUCSER, delivered the vote of thanks by expressing gratitude to all participants, officials, students and attendees for making the Annual Sports Day Exousia a resounding success.

The day included a range of track & field events for the students, who were grouped into four teams: Blue Bandits, Green Mavericks, Red Raptors and Silver Slayers. The day concluded with a mighty tussle of tug-of-war between students and staff.  Sports events were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Karunakar Shetty, Physical Education Director, KSHEMA; Mr. Rajaram Shetty, Physical Education Director, NGSMIPS; Mrs. Hema, Physical Education Director, NUINS and four officials from Mangaluru University.

The winners of the events were felicitated with medals in individual categories and group events. Awards were also given to the Best male and female athletes.





















News from NIPE | Mehndi competition

The Cultural Club of NIPE conducted a Mehndi competition titled “Conquest Carnival” for the students on 23rd January 2024 at the college campus.  Judging was based on parameters like creativity, design, time taken and overall appearance. Dr Asha Vijay and Dr Vidyavathi K, faculty were the judges of the competition.

The event was coordinated by Riya Ravi Kudtarkar.

News from MRSMEMHS | Republic Day 2024

Dr MRSM English Medium High School celebrated 75th Republic Day in the school premises on 26th January 2024. The PTA President Mr Swaraj Shetty along with the Principal Mrs Shreelatha Rao unfurled the National Flag. The students in unison sang the National Anthem and pledged to uphold the honour of the school and integrity of the nation.

Mrs Shreelatha Rao stressed on the importance of fundamental rights, saving water, physical fitness and organic farming to support the Prime Minister’s vision to see India in the list of developed countries.

The students expressed their patriotism through a brief cultural program. The choir group presented the patriotic song. Mass Drill using different props was the highlight of the event.

Mr Pushparaj Chowta, Vice President, PTA shed some light on the preamble of the constitution and urged the students to maintain a cordial relationship with all.

Ms Ananya Padmashali, Class VIII spoke on the importance of the day; Ms Aleena Sehar, Class IX welcomed the gathering; Ms Sheik Soha Punaroor, Class VIII proposed vote of thanks and Ms Ashna Lydia of class VIII compered the event.
