News from NIHS | Aatidonji Dina

Nitte Institute of Hospitality Services (NIHS) celebrated the cultural event "Aatidonji Dina" on 13th August 2024 with vibrant competitions and activities. The event, aimed at showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the "Aati" season, began with a solemn prayer song. A glimpse into the traditions of "Aati" was presented by Mr. Donald, while Dr. Dhiraj Pathak, Principal, NIHS enlightened the audience about the significance of the "Aati" month, its cultural importance and the need to preserve these age-old traditions.

The day was packed with engaging competitions for the PU students, which included folk dance, folk songs, poster making, reels creation and a cooking competition. These activities were followed by a series of traditional games for both staff and students, leading into a lunch break.

In the afternoon, a valedictory function was held to honor the event's success. The chief guests of the function - Mr. Tharanath Gatty, President, Tulu Sahitya Academy; Mr. Umar U.H., President, Beary Sahitya Academy and Mr. Joachim Alvares, President, Konkani Sahitya Academy were warmly welcomed. Mr. Tharanath Gatty highlighted the deep-rooted culture and traditions of Tulunadu, leaving the audience with a sense of pride in their heritage.

The event concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners of the various competitions, a vote of thanks by Mr. Amar Cherian, and the singing of the National Anthem, bringing the celebration of "Aatidonji Dina" to a heartfelt close.
