The Technical Club of NRAM Polytechnic, Nitte, organized an insightful seminar on "Advances in Digital Manufacturing" on 18th March 2025. The resource person Dr. Grynal D’Mello, Assoc. Professor, Mechanical Engineering, NMAMIT introduced the fundamental principles of digital manufacturing, emphasizing its growing relevance in modern industries. He elaborated on how digitalization has transformed traditional manufacturing processes, making them more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable.
Dr. Grynal discussed the role of AI in optimizing manufacturing processes, predictive maintenance and quality control. He highlighted the benefits of AI-powered manufacturing, including increased efficiency, reduced costs & improved product quality and explored the integration of robotics in digital manufacturing, emphasizing the advantages of robotic automation, such as enhanced precision, speed & flexibility. The challenges and limitations of implementing robotics in manufacturing were also addressed. Furthermore, he explained the transformative impact of Industry 4.0 on the manufacturing sector, resulting in increased efficiency, productivity and competitiveness.
In the engaging interactive Q&A session, Dr. Grynal encouraged students to explore research opportunities in this dynamic field, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and adaptation.
