Bancore Activity A Case Study on Managing a Mismanaged Branch

Under the guidance of Dr. N.K. Thingalaya, Chairman, Academic Council, of the Institute a Case study presentation on the topic “Managing a Mismanaged Branch” was held on 18th December, 2013. The jury of the event consists of Mr. K.T. Rai, General Manager, Syndicate Bank, Mr. Giridhar Shenoy, General Manager- HR Corporation Bank and Dr N.S. Shetty, Professor Emeritus of the Institute. The purpose of this Case study was to provide innovative solutions to the problem of a Semi-urban Private Sector Bank which was running under loss. The case was analysed by three teams of II MBA Banking and Finance specialization students by providing suggestions with regard to the improving of asset portfolio and HR practices, control over NPA (Non Performing Assets) and good customer services.



 Towards the end of the session, Team three was declared as the winner by the jury members. Dr. N.S Shetty, Mr. K.T Rai and Mr. Giridhar Shenoy congratulated the winning team and encouraged the students to take up some research work on rural lending and get acquainted with the basic fundamentals and facilities available in modern banking system. Emphasis needs to be put on the necessity of putting banking as the core learning domain for the students of management when they enter into the industry, there are multidimensional skilled minds to work as per the needs of the global market. They threw light on the fact that foreign banks and new generation private sector banks are paving the ways of opportunities for young aspirants.This initiative helped the Banking students bridge the gap between their theoretical knowledge with the practical specialisation of the Banking practitioners. The programme was co-ordinated by Dr. Ashalatha K and Mr. Jnaneshwar Pai Maroor.
